details / 10" x 10" / 80 pages / perfect bound
The Mexicantown Identity functions as a re-brand for an area located in the outskirts of Detroit, MI. The area has a strong Mexican culture, which was broken down into categories such as community, culture and education. Each category was assigned a symbol and color palette to differentiate them from each other. The categories were also assigned secondary symbols to allow for a more extensive system. This system features a custom typeface called 'Mexicantown.' This system of symbols were applied to everything from print materials to way finding systems throughout the area. This project harbored skills of organization and also the ability to communicate the wants and needs of a community through multiple channels.
